Why We Chose Troy, NY

We opened Mumu's in 2020 with just a handful of seats — you can fit about six people inside — and an intentionally wide menu. That combination only really works in a neighborhood where people are already walking, not just driving through.

Troy has that. It's a compact, historic river city where a lot of daily life still happens on foot — to work, to the corner store, to breakfast. That's exactly the kind of customer we built this place for: someone stopping in on their way somewhere else, not necessarily planning a sit-down meal, but happy to find one.

Being small was never the plan B — it let us put more effort into the menu itself instead of the dining room. Troy, in turn, has been the kind of place that rewards that kind of bet.
