Behind Our Turkish Breakfast Plate
Mumu's Turkish Breakfast Plate (kahvaltı) is a shareable spread of simit, fresh cheeses, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, house-made spreads, and real Turkish pastries like börek, baklava, and şekerpare — served at Mumu's Cafe in Troy, NY since 2020. It's built for the table, not one person, and pairs with coffee or tea.
Our Turkish Breakfast Plate is the closest thing we have to a signature dish, and it's built the same way a home kahvaltı table is: a little of everything, all at once.
On it, you'll find simit (a sesame-crusted ring of bread, Turkey's answer to the bagel), a mix of fresh cheeses, olives, cucumbers and tomatoes, and house-made spreads. Alongside it we serve real Turkish pastries — börek, baklava, and şekerpare — made in-house, not bought in.
This plate has been part of the menu since we opened in 2020, and it's stayed largely the same because there wasn't much to improve on. It's meant to be shared, picked at slowly, and paired with coffee or tea. If you've never had a Turkish breakfast before, this is the easiest way to try one — order it for the table and see what you like best.
